Turquoise Blue Opal is close to a Robin Egg Blue Sheet Glass but with a hint of green. It should not be confused with the Turquoise Green. The interesting part is color name: the color describes the opaque mineral compounds used to make it. The two opaque main ingredients are hydrous copper aluminum phosphate and often includes a small amount of iron which may help it be more reactive. The word Turquoise is French for Turkish. The country Turkey is where the gem was initially imported from, before the discovery in the Southwestern locations here in the US.
