After coating with Kiln Wash you have two choices how to use your square drop ring:
1. Set the square drop ring right on your kiln shelf and slow slump a 8 inch square sheet of glass over it to create a Glass plate
2. Use the Drop Ring to create a Vase in a height of your choice by elevating your mold on kiln posts at each corner.
Fusing Tips:
- Use a slumping schedule for a plate design but for a vase slow down the schedule during the slumping so you can monitor thru your peep hole to see when the drop hits the kiln shelf.
- When creating drop ring Vases, the taller you want them the thicker you need to make you base glass design to support the molten glass stretch and leave the glass strong enough.
- You may wish to also place kiln shelf paper over a large area of your shelf as a backup glass separator in case something goes wrong with the firing schedule or slump.
