Inclusions can give a fused glass piece texture, character, and color that glass alone can't achieve. This large dragonfly inclusion is flat and thin while maintaining the imprinted design so when it is sandwiched between to layers of glass it will handle the difference between the expansion rate of the glass and metal to avoid cracking the glass as it cools.  

IMPORTANT NOTE: (Go slow with your kiln firing schedule when you are using larger piece of metal inclusions.) 

NOTE: Brass will change colors when fired to a full fuse.  Inclusions colors will vary from a Golden yellow to a rich rust color.  The color will not necessarily be predictable and can vary with the color of the base glass and/or the maximum temperature or even the Kiln Firing Saturation Time.  Metals can also be painted with enamel paints and fired prior to fusing between glass layers to enhance the overall effect.
