High Temperature Wire is used for kiln fire glass projects. It withstands temperatures up to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit (1,093 Celsius)
SIZE: The smaller the gauge number the thicker the wire
- 24 Gauge is used for decoration, jewelry, and armatures. Not for use as a support wire
- 17 Gauge is used for embellishments, to fuse as hangers directly into your art, create a wire screen for pot melts, use it to hold kiln fire paper onto a curved mold, basically whenever a wire that can withstand high kiln temperatures is required.
This is a general-purpose wire kiln ready for firing with your glass. remains strong in the extreme heat of kiln firings and withstands high temperatures for long periods. High-temperature wire is the wire that they make the elements in your kiln out of, it is not silver, but it will polish up to something resembling silver after you fuse it.
The wire is a nickel-chromium alum wire and remains strong in the extreme heat of kiln firings and withstands high temperatures for long periods.
Note: Depending upon the glass content (minerals used to the make the glass color) will determine if there is any interaction to change the color of the wire.
